Implementation of SDR-based high frequency range OFDM transceiver for Dedicated Short Range Communication

چکیده

In The current scenario, a new protocol standard such as Dedicated short range Communication (DSRC) IEEE802.11p is implemented using with expensive hardware prototypes but still new physical layer and signal processing algorithms are not integrated on it .The DSRC radios for practical experiments are either commercial grade solutions which are developed for field tests, are rather expensive and, most importantly, they do not allow to change the PHY or MAC of the underlying IEEE 802.11p implementation. Hence Software Defined Radio (SDR) hardware platforms, together with real-time signal processing frameworks, offer a basis to implement transceivers which uses OFDM that can allow such experimentation and sophisticated measurements. With OFDM, data is transmitted in parallel on multiple, orthogonal subcarriers. Compared to single carrier systems, this poses a multitude of new challenges for the hardware and asks for new signal processing algorithms to cope with OFDM characteristics, like high Peak to Average Power Ratio (PAPR). We present, the implementation of an SDR-based IEEE 802.11p OFDM transceiver consists of a software part, where the signal processing algorithms are implemented, and a hardware part that is responsible for up and down conversion of the analog wave form, which allows operating on the Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) frequency band around 5.9 GHz.
